Dr. Angel Holland
Congratulations to the newest members of the 2016/2017 Beta Club!
About the Junior Beta & Community Service:
The Junior Beta Club is a service organization. The national motto is “Let Us Lead By Serving Others”. Because of this we have several service projects each year. In recent years we have raised over $3,000 for Hunger in Rockingham County; we have donated coats for the “Give a Kid a Coat” campaign; and we have provided snack boxes for fire and law enforcement departments in Rockingham County.
This school year (2015-2016), we have had a Hunger Walk for Rockingham County for which our members asked for donations. They raised over $4,000. We sang at a nursing home at Christmas and made cards for the residents. We decorated the school lunchroom for Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day. This spring they will have a walk for the Barry Joyce Cancer Foundation for which they will be receiving donations.
In order to be in the Junior Beta Club, students must be working on grade level and they must have a grade average in their core classes of at least 93. Students with a 93 average are considered for membership by the faculty each year after the third nine-week grading period.
Other requirements for membership include 1) worthy, moral, and ethical character, 2) creditable achievement, 3) and commendable attitude. Membership is a privilege and not a right.
