The Bethany Community Middle School Board of Directors, Administration, Faculty, and Staff are proud to announce that Ms. Vodenichar has been selected as a WGBH Teacher Advisor for their “Bring the Universe to America’s Classroom” initiative. The initiative is part of a cooperative agreement with NASA to produce digital tools and instructional models for the PBS Learning Media platform. The PBS Learning Media platform provides resources free of charge to millions through the website www.pbslearningmedia.org. Ms. Vodenichar was one of 50 teachers selected nationwide to work with leading media producers and educational researchers to design new ways to engage students around topics in Earth, space, and physical sciences. Before these resources are made available to the public, our BCMS students will have the opportunity to test these resources and provide their feedback this fall.
Ms. Vodenichar was also one of 10 educators selected nationally to participate in a Cabot Creamery focus group providing feedback on educational resources they are developing in the areas of health, fitness, nutrition, wellness, sustainability, finance, and business models. The resources integrate multiple content areas including math, science, language arts, economics, and visual and dramatic arts. More information about these resources can be found at https://www.cabotcheese.coop/school-and-group-programs.
Ms. Vodenichar was selected for these opportunities based on her passion for integrating her science and educational research experience to create relevant and engaging lessons for her students. She believes that when students are excited about their learning, they discover interests and skills that will encourage them to pursue challenging and fulfilling academic courses and careers.
