EMERGENCY INFORMATION CARDS: PLEASE RETURN TO THE SCHOOL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
It is very important we have the new updated student information cards. If there is an emergency this is the only way we would be able to get in touch with parents. Please make sure you have turned your information card into the office.
Please make sure you have filled out the student information card and return it to the office as soon as possible. Even if you have filled out one in the past, you still need to fill out one for the 2020-2021  school year.

HIGH SCHOOL YEARBOOKS.
Yearbooks will be on sale through March 1st.

STUDENTS WANTING TO CHANGE ATTENDANCE STATUS
We continue to address requests for change in attendance status and have reached out to the families who have previously requested changes.  We have limited flexibility with regard to allowing students back into our AA or BB days (Option2).  Currently all bus routes are filled to capacity. 7th grade is also currently filled to allowable capacity.  Please contact Mr. Turner at cturner@bcmschool.org for more information.

BASKETBALL ATTENDANCE GUIDELINES
Due to the continuing COVID-19 restrictions, our home basketball game attendees will be restricted TO 2 GUESTS PER PLAYER until further notice.  As much as we want the BCS community to get behind our teams and as much as we want the student body to support their fellow classmates, the simple reality is the current regulations are going to prevent us from this at the moment.  Hopefully, we’ll get some good news soon to allow more people into our games.  We are letting everyone know because when you see the weekly schedule, like for the upcoming Howl Night Friday, only those who qualify will be able to attend.   FYI for the winter:  Cheerleaders will cheer at home games only and their parents may be at the games to support them.  Due to limited capacity, we are going to have to ask the girls basketball team parents to clear the gym as soon as the girls game is completed and we will ask boy’s parents to wait  to enter the building close to tipoff.  Thanks for your understanding during these difficult circumstances.

DRESS CODE
Parents please review the student dress code with your child. It is located in the BCS Student-Parent handbook. The school reserves the right to approve or disapprove of any clothing, footwear, or accessories. The school dress code will be followed before and after school hours for all school functions, events, and field trips. If dress code is not adhered to, parents will be contacted to bring appropriate clothing to school for the student.

DRESS CODE FOR VIRTUAL AND REMOTE STUDENTS
Please dress appropriately, even if you are in remote learning. Sleep wear, hoodies and crop tops are not considered proper attire. Also be reminded that all avatars and backgrounds are expected to be non-offensive and to meet all expectations of a BCS student class setting.

SPORTS PRACTICE PICK-UP AND DROP OFF

Bethany Community School Response to Governor Cooper’s Statement Regarding Return to In Person Learning

Bethany Community School appreciates the North Carolina legislature’s desire for students to return to in-school learning, and for Governor Cooper’s support and encouragement for this to happen.  The Governor’s statement is a clear directive to school’s who have not yet returned students to in-school learning like we at Bethany have been doing for the entire school year.

The Governor’s directive calls for students to return to the classroom in a manner that follows all required guidelines and protocols for safe spacing and social distancing.  Just like Bethany has been doing for the entire school year!

At this time, there are no changes to the regulations and protocols regarding safe distancing and capacity limits in classrooms and buses.  So there is not much change to what Bethany has been doing for the entire school year.

It has been our intention from the beginning of this school year, to accommodate as many in -school learners, as is responsibly possible.  We are thrilled that our plan has worked and has allowed every one of our students the opportunity to have been on campus, if they chose to do so.  We continue to review class sizes to determine the possibility of safely adding more students, all while following guidelines for safety and taking into consideration, capacity and spacing concerns.

We will continue to assess our ability to accommodate in person learners and will provide updates as soon as possible.

Thank you to the Bethany Community and Board for affording our students the chance to be here in person.

Best,

Vicky Bethel  Director/Principal
Chris Turner-Assistant Principal
