ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGE
Today, January 16, 2020 will be assistant principal, Mr. Trent Walton’s last day at Bethany Community School.  We wish him well in his new position and hope the best for him in the future.

CONDUCT AT BETHANY SCHOOL EVENTS
Families and students, please look over the Athletics Sportsmanship Guidelines in the BCS Handbook. It is vital to us to maintain a safe and caring environment for our student-athletes. When cheering, cheer the effort of your team’s players.  Respect the referee and coach’s decisions, even if you disagree.  Remember you are representing BCS and more importantly, you are setting an example for your child.  If you are removed from BCS games you can be banned from other games as well. Furthermore, if any issues arise, use the proper channels– coach, athletic director and administration to address your concerns over the issue(s).  It is also a good practice to not address issues during a game day and wait until the next day to voice concerns using the proper channels to resolve the conflict.

LUNCH MONEY
Please have your student bring in smaller bills to pay for lunches in the lunchline. $20 bills are not encouraged due to the lack of change in the cash register. Students should bring smaller bills to ensure they are able to receive the correct change.

11TH GRADE ACT TESTING
The 11th grade students will be completing the ACT on February 25.  Students taking the ACT may leave school once all testing is finished.  As we get closer to the date, more information will follow. We will also need proctors to assist with testing. Please consider volunteering.

2020-2021 ENROLLMENT
Enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year begins on January 2, 2020.

TIS THE SEASON…COLD AND FLU SEASON THAT IS!
As I am sure many of you are aware there are a lot of cold and flu symptoms going around right now. Symptoms may include: fever, chills, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches, and fatigue.

INCLEMENT WEATHER NOTIFICATIONS
BCS typically follows the Rockingham County Schools’ inclement weather schedule. Families will receive a robocall with information regarding delays or cancellations. Additionally, we post this information to WFMY News 2, Fox 8 News, WXII News 12, and the Bethany Community School PTSO Facebook page.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER POSITIONS
We are expanding our pool of available substitute teachers. If you are interested, or know anyone who may be interested, please visit the Substitute Employment page on the school website (www.bcschoolnc.org/substitute) or contact the main office. Candidates complete an application and security steps prior to being considered for hiring.
